Half Nelson (2006)
I had started watching this movie about 6 months ago, but something had stopped me from finishing it. I finally remembered that I had yet to finish it, and it seemed like a good idea to watch it before the year was over. This film has received a lot of praise and awards, so I expected a lot. However, I wasn’t really head-over-heels in love with it. It is a really fascinating story, and is directed really well; I just didn’t care for all too much. Ryan Gosling is still one of my favorite actors today, but I definitely do not think that this is his best role. I appreciate this film as the wonderful piece that it is, but it ultimately left me a little let down.

Drive (2011)
People have been raving about this movie for a week now, so I finally decided to just watch it. Quite honestly, the only reason I wanted to watch it was because I think Ryan Gosling is a great actor. Well, there are definitely more than that one reason to see this movie. It’s absolutely stunning. It could have been a very stereotypical action film. It could’ve been a very dry movie, but it wasn’t at all. It’s amazing how spectacular a movie can be without having much dialogue or even a lead character that is doesn’t actually have a real name. Ryan Gosling has proved time and time again that he is one of the best actors working today, and this film is no exception. Carey Mulligan was her normal adorable self, which was a nice contrast to Ryan Gosling’s character. I definitely applaud Nicolas Winding Refn for his direction, because that is really what truly set this movie apart from others of its kind. Also, it’s very rare that a movie actually changes my opinion about it as it progresses, but somehow this film actually did just that. At first, I wasn’t too pleased with the choice of music; but, by the end, I was a huge fan of it. See this film, you will not regret it.

I think it is awesome that they are in another movie together; I think they have great chemistry.
Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011)
Romantic comedies aren’t really my cup of tea, but with a cast like this it was hard to pass up this movie. Late last night, my best friend and I decided to go to the movies, and I immediately knew that this is what I wanted to see. At the beginning, I wasn’t really digging it because it just seemed like normal Steve Carell-type of humor, but as the movie progressed and the plot became more clear, it turned out to be a wonderful movie. My favorite part about it was Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone’s story-line; I thought they were absolutely adorable together. At first glance, I wouldn’t necessarily cast them together, but they actually had great chemistry together. Now the ending is what made this movie stand out for me. I won’t give it away, but it is sort of shocking and fun, and completely comes out of no where. What I like about this particular film is that it has the characteristics of a normal romantic comedy, but the directing and the acting sort of sets it apart from all the others. It’s a must-see, there’s no doubt about it.
Blue Valentine (2010)
FINALLY! I saw this amazing film! Words cannot express how good this movie was. I just cannot believe what I saw take place on the screen, it was just brilliant. The creative use of showing the rise and fall of a relationship was just mind-blowing. Derek Cianfrance did a really good job directing this film, everything about it was just incredible and it’s mostly because of him. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams had such fantastic chemistry between them, it was just amazing to see. And not only that, the fact that they were able to go from a couple in love to a couple fighting was just amazing. The directing, the editing, the music, the dialogue and the acting just worked so well together. I recommend this film to everyone, but just be aware that it kind of makes you lose hope in the concept of love, but it’s worth seeing.
The Notebook (2004)
When this movie movie was released I had absolutely no interest in seeing it, and when people started to go crazy over it I still had no plans to see it; but now that I have fallen in love with Ryan Gosling I felt the need to watch this movie, and boy was I missing out. Sure, the plot was predictable, but it was still endearing and wonderfully sad. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are the perfect couple. Their acting styles and their chemistry is a perfect match, no other actors would be able to fulfill these roles. I’m not normally a love story type of person, but I couldn’t help but fall head-over-heals for this story. But now I just want to cry myself to sleep tonight because that sort of relationship is totally fictional but it’s exactly what I’ve always wanted. See this movie, you will not regret it.
All Good Things (2010)
I am an absolute awe of this movie. Not only was it shot well, the plot was really good and the acting was sensational. I knew that Ryan Gosling was a really great actor, but I had no idea that Kristen Dunst had it in her to play such a heavy role. I am truly in love with both of them in this movie. If you have not seen this movie yet I recommend that you do, soon.
